Succesful Installation in Luton

Installation at Saints Super Store was very successful.

The owner of Saints Super Store called and inquired us about our services. Before going in through the details of our products, we asked if there were CCTVs installed in the shop and indeed there was but it’s obsolete.

The customer highlighted that he needs to playback the video before he can access and view all the happenings in the shop. He found a hard time detecting faces and see details because of the low quality of his CCTV cameras. Furthermore, he then mentioned some events that made him want to install new security cameras.

Aside from customers stealing items, his staff had also an issue about handling their cash. He also had a problem dealing with deliveries from supplier that doesn’t match from what he ordered. There are also instances that abusive customers are making a scene in his shop considering that his employees had work issues as well. Moreover, there are also kids vandalising the rear of the shop which he cannot notice during work.

With the unfortunate events happened at Saint Superstore, HDCCTVcameras.net is back in action. We act fast to save the shop from these issues.

The owner requested for a budget friendly price so we offered him our camera system package. It includes Hybrid DVR that serves as the central processing unit of the security cameras. 1 Terabyte Hard Disk Drive is also included. So goes with USB mouse, HDMI cable and more.

After the installation, the owner had a relief from the stressful events. He can now have an easy access to his mobile phone. One thing that he love, he is already in full control of every corner in his shop. With the HD quality, he can now clearly see the future of his business.

What is the correct height for CCTV camera installation?

what is the correct cctv installation height

Often people think that installing cameras higher up closer to the soffit just under the roof (gutter) level was the best option as this way no one can easily reach cameras to vandalise as well as you get a wide view of the whole area. Well there’s pros and cons to this. If the camera is too high, it will be looking down at head rather than the face for recognition as well as it could reduce the effectiveness of infrared. Certainly wiring work will look neater as you could feed the wires straight in to the loft and place the camera to cover the cable entry.

Installing the CCTV cameras at the correct height can makes a big difference and it will certainly help to get the most out of your CCTV system. In fact this is a very popular topic even met police chief has commented on this. Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner said,

“Over the last year as facial recognition software has got better we can apply the software to the images of burglaries or robberies and we can compare those images with the images we take when we arrest people.”

“What we need to be able to do is to be able to compare that photograph with the images we have of people committing a crime.

“Taking the tops of their heads is not that helpful for facial recognition which relies on the eyes and the configuration of the area around the nose and the mouth. So we’re trying to get people to, ideally, add another camera at face level.”

Speaking on LBC radio, Mr Hogan Howe denied that placing cameras at eye-level could invite criminal acts of vandalism.

He said: “‘Most criminals are pretty disorganised, they don’t think about it. The reason the cameras are high is two-fold. One is to keep it out of harm’s way.

“As importantly, you get a whole shot of what happened at the event: What did they steal? Did they use a knife? You get all that. But more relevant today is a face. That’s what we need.

In summary, what is the correct height?

There’s not a simple one answer for all types of installations as they depend on type of the premises, size of the area, field of view, cameras infrared levels etc etc… we generally recommend around 2.5 meter height for cameras installed to capture images of faces and around 5-6 meters for cameras installed to get an overview of the indecent/area.

If you are thinking of getting your cameras professionally installed why not give us a call for a free estimate?

This one of the HD IP Dome cameras installed high up just under the soffit  to give an over view video feed of the area. With a camera installed at this height & angle you will get a view as below.

As you can see on this mobile phone photo capture of the CCTV screen ( you probably not going see the picture in full resolution) at an height of 5-6 meters you will get a very good wide angle view of the whole area. so if you had visit from any uninvited guests you can see their movements from the point they walk through your front gates. This sort of view is good to capture an over view of any events but if you want to see objects, faces, number plates etc clearly you will need a camera mounted at a lower level approximately around 2.5 meter height , lets take a look at a HD IP Dome camera located at a lower level
